ABSTRACT
To cope with the acceleration of economic globalization,Chinese enterprises are striving to improve their value creation and industrial competitiveness by participating in the international division of labor and global competition,which has significantly contributed to the increasingly important roles that China plays in the international political and economic arena.The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC)and the State Council of the People's Republic of China always value the internationalization of Chinese enterprises.Since the CPC 18th National Congress,China has accelerated its Belt and Road strategy and initiative of building a global Internet of Energy,unveiling a golden opportunity for the internationalization of Chinese enterprises.
Despite the fact that Chinese enterprises,especially leading central State Owned Enterprises(SOEs)across various industries,have achieved significant progress in the process of internationalization,the lack of international talent at all levels has become a bottleneck obstructing the road to internationalization.More specifically,two prominent issues have emerged to challenge the development and management of international talent:one is the coexistence of inadequate quantity and under-optimized structure of international talent,the other is the lack of synergy of talent internationalization and localization of overseas talent.
This book focuses on the talent team building of Chinese enterprises in their process of internationalization,digging into this topic on both the theoretical side and the practical side. On the theoretical side,this book formulates four strategic patterns of enterprise internationalization,i.e.the resource-seeking pattern,the asset-seeking pattern,the value chain optimization pattern,and the wholeindustry-chain-driven pattern,by borrowing ideas from the determining factors of strategic choice theory. Furthermore,on the basis of going through the basic law and relevant theory of international talent team building of enterprises,the authors further summarize four typical patterns of enterprise international talent team building,i.e. the operational exploration pattern,the transition & duplication pattern,the localized compatibility pattern,and the co-creation pattern.On the practical side,we performed a thorough case study,the internationalization of typical Chinese enterprises being examined,their measures and results of international talent team building being analyzed,and their weakness and lessons being investigated.All these finally constitute our research results and effective solutions with practical significance,paving the way for further research in the future.
